Stacey Macken remains one of the largest tribunal awards ever made by an Employment Tribunal and is one of the most well publicised equal pay cases of recent times. Described by the Guardian as a “rare win” in the equal pay field, the case went onto start the #metoopay movement and remains a historic victory as it is the first and only case to date where a tribunal has ordered an equal pay audit against an employer and the only case in the top 10 employment tribunal awards of all time to have been won by a direct access barrister. It also remains one of the largest ACAS uplifts that the tribunal have ever made.
